Dr Katherine Newman-Taylor is Programme Director for the PG Diploma and PG Certificate in CBT (Advanced Level Practice) at the University of Southampton.

I work on the CBT and Clinical Psychology programmes at the University, and as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with the local NHS trust.

My clinical interests are in working with people with psychosis - drawing on attachment and recovery principles to strengthen cognitive behavioural approaches to living well with voices, paranoia and other unusual experiences.

Research interests

My research focuses on understanding the cognitive, meta-cognitive and attachment-based factors associated with the maintenance of distressing psychosis, and drawing out the implications for therapeutic work. For our work on facilitating recovery, please see HAO recovery.
